Meet Beki Bahar-Engler
 

Beki is the founder of Shalem Coaching and Consulting. With over 25 years of experience in senior management strategy and operations, Beki has dedicated her career to scaling, expanding, and transforming organizations across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and the Middle East/Africa. Beki thrives at developing, aligning, and operationalizing strategy with systems, policies, processes, and people to maximize impact.  Her passion lies in empowering individuals to unlock their full leadership potential.

Beki’s career includes pivotal roles at large education non-profits (including Advanced Education Research and Development Fund, Graduate Management Admission Council, and Teach For America) and in the private sector (including Sprint Nextel and McKinsey & Co.) where she honed her expertise in strategy development, data-driven decision-making, and operational performance.

As the Chief Operating Officer at Advanced Education Research and Development Fund (AERDF), Beki led efforts to build an agile, high-performing, and inclusive organization that advances AERDF’s mission. Previously, as Chief Administrative Officer and Board Secretary of the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), Beki helped guide a $100M global association of graduate business schools across the United States, Europe, India, and China. At Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE), she played a key role as Senior Vice President of Partnerships & Infrastructure, driving organizational strategy and operational excellence. Her leadership helped grow LEE’s membership from 10,000 to over 40,000 and its annual revenue from $200,000 to $30 million.

Having lived and worked in the United States, Europe and the Middle East, Beki brings a global perspective and a deep appreciation for diverse stakeholder engagement to her coaching and consulting practice. Her approach is rooted in helping leaders navigate complexity, cultivate resilience, and achieve their goals with clarity and confidence.


Beki holds a B.A. degree in Political Science and History from Adelphi University, an M.A. in International Relations from American University, and an MBA from Georgetown University.
